Former American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino had to increase security after she received a threatening letter in the mail at the end of February during her run in The Color Purple. Fantasia immediately contacted the police after finding the alarming letter in a pile of her fan mail. Fantasia found the letter while she was reading her fan mail after a performance of her stage show at the Los Angeles Pantages Theatre. Barrino's manager says that the letter had a couple of racial slurs along with the sentence, "Go back to where you came from and die." Fantasia had to be guarded by security 24 hours a day, and the police started screening items that were being sent to her dressing room.
On the more positive side, in a recent interview with ABC's News Beyond the Red Carpet Fantasia Barrino talked about some of her new songs, which will be on her first album in 3 years. Fantasia said, "It's been 3 years too long, music is my everything, so I have to put my heart, my soul, and all of my time into this album." Music has always been a way for the single mother to escape, and her new album will express everything she has been going through in her life. In one of Fantasia's new songs, called Overload, she talks about how frantic her life has been for the past 3 years. Other than saying her album will come out in 2010, there has not been a date set for its release.
