Season 9 promises to be more exciting than ever according to the official website of Idol; AmericanIdol.com. The season started airing in January of 2010 and included singing auditions from around the United States. The judges, Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi along with several guest judges, traveled from state to state in search of the best musical talent. They then headed back to Hollywood to narrow the search down to the top 24, 12 men and 12 women.
Once the top 24 contestants are chosen by the judges, America is then in charge of the voting. After each performance, in front of a live audience in Hollywood, the judges critique their vocal performances and then turn the phone lines over for America to vote. Each week, the bottom 2 contestant from each night will be voted off, although the judges have the capability of "saving" one contest during each season. Once America chooses the final 12 contestants, only the performer with the lowest number of votes will be sent home.
You can vote for contestants either by phoning in your vote, or if you are an AT&T subscriber you can text your vote in. The way the voting process works is that for two hours after the show airs you can cast a vote for your favorite singer or singers. Each contestant is given a toll free number during their performance and then again during the show recap. AmericanIdol.com also offers a voting tip that says the heaviest amount of votes come in during the first 45 minutes of voting so be patient and, if possible, call towards the end of voting.
