Kelly Clarkson is a singer, songwriter, and actress, who was born on April 24, 1982. Kelly made her debut record under RCA Records, after winning the first season of American Idol in 2002. Kelly has toured all over the world as a solo artist since her victory on American Idol. Clarkson held the honor of having the biggest selling American Idol album, until January 2009, when Carrie Underwood took the title with a small margin of 100,000 albums. Kelly Clarkson however has had the highest selling American Idol album in total, selling over 23 million records globally.
Adam Lambert tried out for the eighth season of American Idol at the San Francisco auditions. Some of Adam's musical inspirations include David Bowie, Michael Jackson, Led Zeppelin and Madonna. During Michael Jackson week, on the show Adam sang "Black or White," which got thumbs up from all of the judges, Paula Abdul even said that he would be in the finals. Since being the runner-up on American Idol, Lambert released his debut record "For Your Entertainment," on November 23, 2009.
Adam's album was number three on the Billboard 200, during the week of December 12, 2009. Adam Lambert's album eventually sold 198,000 copies and that was just in America. The best part of being on the show American Idol, is that you do not have to win the show to become a successful star in the music business. Another great thing about American Idol, is it gives anyone the chance to show off their talents. Who knows if Kelly Clarkson had not been on American Idol, would she be as successful as she is today?
