Season nine of American Idol is underway. The recent auditions are much like the auditions of past American Idol shows. There are the usual contestants who, for some reason or another, are under the impression that they can sing. However, most of us agree that they shouldn't even be auditioning because of their inability to carry a tune. Yet we continue to watch this show because of it's ability to audition millions of people and narrow the contestants down to a dozen or more who have very good voices.
It doesn't seem to matter how bad the auditions are, American Idol remains high in the rankings with an average of twenty-eight million viewers watching. We do not get to see what happens behind the scenes in the making of this show. What appears to be simple to the average viewer is really a lot of hard work for those who are running the stagecraft and doing the editing for each show.
With this week's auditions in Los Angeles the judges are looking for contestants who can live up to the past American Idol hopefuls who came from this city. They are Katherine McPhee, Allison Iraheta and Adam Lambert. The guest judges for this show are Katy Perry and Avril Lavigne.
Season nine of American Idol is pretty much shaping up the same way as all the other seasons. We have the judges who are constantly bickering and we have the contestants who have to put up with the criticism of all the judges. As in the past though, some of the judges are more critical then others.
