Georgia, like the rest of the world, is reeling with the poor economic situation.  Finding a job in Georgia may take up to 6 months.  Georgia's unemployment rate is 9.2%, which is not as bad as some other states in the US.  The job market is stronger than it was 5 years ago which helps drive the unemployment rate down. According to the author, Georgia is the upcoming place for jobs within the health care industry.  More retirees are moving to Georgia and geriatric care in increasing due to these people.  In the service industry, fast food and customer service areas are on the uprise.
The average salary for somebody working in Georgia is approximately $42,000 per year.  Computer related positions are leading the job openings as well.  Wood working industries are one type of business that is located in Georgia and on the rise as well as retail being another with stores such as Walmart.  What the author mentions is true -- at least you have a great place to live in Georgia with its weather conditions while you are looking for your next job.
