Everyone remembers him as the runner up on the fourth season of American Idol, but this Alabama-born rocker has since come into his own as an musical artist. He was born as Harold Elwin Bice, but soon after birth got the nickname Bogart, and has since shortened it to Bo.
His first album after his idol stint, The Real Thing, was very pop oriented. He admits to have "not really anything to do" with his first album. He didn't do any writing on it. However, he did have featured assists on that album from Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Chad Kroeger, and Ben Moody, a former Evanescence band member.
His second time around was different. He went back to his southern roots and did a Southern Rock album. He got to call the shots. Bice says,"I picked and co-wrote the songs that if I was a guy who would be spending my hard-earned money buying an album I would want to hear." He co-wrote the songs on the album with A.J. Croce (son of Jim Croce) and Chris Tomkins.
His third album is even more his own, having written all the songs except maybe one or two co-written ones. This next album is a live album with an EP. He says that his song writing has matured because of his being a father and husband.
So what kind of music does Bo Bice play? He plays whatever he is in the mood for, which is mostly southern rock.
