Bo Bice, the runner up in season four of American Idol, began his latest acoustic concert tour on February 27, 2009 in Sellersville, Pennsylvania. The tour concluded in Warsaw, Indiana on March 15, 2009. Two new artists, Patrick Mitchell and Kelleigh Brannen, joined him on the tour.
Bice was one of the oldest contestants after American Idol changed their age limit to 28 instead of 26, and he was one of first contestants to portray himself as a rock artist. His first album, The Real Thing, was released on December 13, 2005. It opened at number four and was the seventh highest opening for a debut album by an American Idol finalist. Bice was given a gold record before RCA dropped him from their roster. He then formed his own record label, Sugar Money, and released his second album, See the Light, On October 23, 2007. Bice reported working on a live album from his recent tours and hoped to release it during 2009.
Bice will be participating in a multi-artist country fantasy camp May 21 through May 25, 2009 in Nashville. The camp was designed to give the country fans and aspiring artists a chance to see what it is like to be a country music star. Others who will be there include Darryl Worley, Deana Carter and private performances from John Rich and Ronnie Milsap.
Bice's upcoming tour starts on July 23, 2009 at Mohegan Sun Wolf Den in Uncasville, Connecticut then goes to Showcase Live at Patriot Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts on July 24 and ends at BB King Blues Club in New York, New York on July 25. Bice is known for being an extraordinary live performer, and some have said he “connects to the audience” and “draws you in and draws you out of yourself.”
