The first seven seasons of American Idol were primarily judged by Paula Abdul, Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson, with a guest judge every now and again. Season 8 of American Idol is well on its way since introducing a new judge for this season, Kara DioGuardi. Kara was hired on by Idol to offer contestants advice along with critique.
Anyone who watches American Idol knows that Paula is forever arguing her point with Simon and Randy, while also having to defend herself to them. Paula should now have a little back-up when it comes to offering her opinion.
DioGuardi is very qualified for this position, as she has written songs for and worked with past Idol contestants like Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor Hicks, Bo Bice, Katharine McPhee, David Archuletta and Clay Aiken. Besides the previous contestants, she has also worked with popular singers such as Celine Dion, Miley Cyrus, the Jonas Brothers, Paula Abdul, Jewel, Britney Spears, Pink, Santana and Gwen Stefani to name only a few.
DioGuardi has worked with many big names as you can see, and has been in the music industry since 1999. She first started out as a singer but didn't find much success, so she turned to songwriting. She has become one of the most sought after writers and producers. Kara has had 39 albums in the Top 10 of the Billboard's music chart and has won several awards including four awards for "Most Performed Songs on the Radio/."
