Taylor Hicks

Taylor Hicks caught his big break back in 2006 when he auditioned for "American Idol." Although he was not considered the favorite by the judges, America thought differently. Hicks went on to win the title for season five of the hit show. Since winning "American Idol", he has gone on to record two albums. His first album that was released was titled "Taylor Hicks" in December of 2006. Later, in January of 2008, Artista Records announced that they were dropping him.

Out of the first five seasons of "American Idol," Hicks had the lowest selling record. After being released from his contract with Artista, he went on to record another record, dedicating it to his "Soul Patrol." He considers all of his Idol fans along with his current supporters, his soul patrol; many have been following him since the show.

Taylor Hicks just recently released his second album under his own label, "Modern Whomp Records." The new CD is titled "The Distance" and it hit store shelves on March 10, 2009.

Hicks is currently on tour at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre in New York City. He is in the musical "Grease," where he is playing the role of Teen Angel, in as many as eight shows a week. Since winning Idol, he has lost over 20 pounds and has a workout regimen that he likes to follow. One of his favorite meals that he says is also good for the vocals is chicken noodle soup.
