He tried out for the 2005 season of “American Idol” on a dare from his mother. Who knew this would be the greatest exposure for his musical career, especially after becoming runner-up?
Bo already had several albums to his credit prior to his run on "American Idol." These include his first CD in 1995 with his band Purge. His second album "Ex Gratia," was recorded in 1999 also with Purge. In 2000, he released "Recipe for Flavor", with a new band named Sugar Money.
After his time on the show, he signed with RCA and released several more albums. In June 2005, "Inside Your Heaven" came out and included only two songs, "Vehicle," and of course, "Inside Your Heaven" (sold as a single and as an album). It ranked number two on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart and number one on the Billboard Hot Single Sales. Bo's single "The Real Thing" opened at number four and quickly became gold. He then released it on a dual disc album in December 2005. This album had both a CD and DVD. It included such songs as "U Make Me Better," "Remember Me" and "Valley of Angels." The DVD had videos to match each song, along with other bonus material about Bo Bice himself.
In 2007, Bo would continue recording. However, it would be under his own label with his band, Sugar Money. His album "See The Light" would premier in January 2007. This album included songs like "Take The Country Outta Me," "Witness" and "Whiskey, Woman and Time."
In 2008, Bo concentrated on touring and promoting his success. Moving to his own label has in no way slowed his talent or motivation. If anything, it gave his credibility and future success an enormous boost.
