Taylor Hicks has been very busy since his win on American Idol in 2006. He has been recording, writing and touring the country with the Broadway musical "Grease". The tour goes to several more cities before the tour ends on May 30, 2009. Taylor will be at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles March 10-22, and March 24-April l9 at the Golden Gate Theater in San Francisco. Keller Auditorium in Portland, Oregon will be the site of Taylor's next performance on April 21-16 and then he's back to California on April 28-May 10 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa, California. Lastly, May 12-30 he will be in Seattle at the 5th Avenue Theater. Taylor sang "Beauty School Drop-Out" in the show and was decidedly a big hit with the audience and cast.
Although Taylor lost his deal with J Records, he was not taken aback by being the lowest-selling artist in American Idol history. He formed his own record label, Modern Whomp Records. He made a deal with Vanguard/Welk Records to release some of the material he did before American Idol.
Taylor loves performing and feels blessed that he can. Taylor has appeared on many TV shows such as Regis and Kelly, The Tonight Show, Good Morning America, Ellen and Larry King. He has also been featured in various entertainment industry media outlets including Entertainment Magazine, ET, E! News, and Access Hollywood among others. Taylor has also had the honor to sing for the President of The United States of America on "Christmas in Washington" and served as Grand Marshall at the Mardis Gras Parade in New Orleans. He also headlined a 50+ city national tour with sell-out performances every night. Taylor also wrote a book, "Full of Soul," released in 2007.
