The new American Idol judge has as good a resume as the other judges if not better. As the Vice President of A&R Records at Warner Brothers and co-owner of the production and publishing house called ArtHouse Entertainment she knows her way around the music business. Kara DioGuardi has written 168 multi-platinum songs for everyone from Pink to Hillary Duff and Celine Dion to the Jonas Brothers.
Her music career started at Billboard magazine. While there for 5 years learning the music business the new American Idol judge started writing songs. The first songs were not very good she admits but she got better. Her confidence rose to heights that prompted her to give one of her demos to Paula Abdul all those years ago. Paula recognized talent when she saw it and invited her to stay with her in Los Angeles while they collaborated.
There were some who feared that Kara was too nice to hold her own on American Idol with Simon Cowell. It didn’t take long for Kara DioGuardi to shine in her own right as a judge. The new American Idol judge also gives no ground even when Simon delivers his sharpest comments. She has worked with enough entertainers new and seasoned to know who has potential and who doesn’t. She also adds additional spice to the judging of Season 8 as she is both compassionate and tough. Kara feels that if her dad could come to this country and start his own grocery store she can surely be strong enough to judge the contestants without bowing to any other judge’s comments or criticisms.
