It is a welcomed change to have a fourth judge on American Idol. Kara DioGuardi a well known song writer, performer and producer. She brings a change in the way contestants are judged. It is intriguing to see the chemistry between the four judges. At times it appears that they do not like each other very much, but then again the show would not be as entertaining as it is if they were all very nice at all times. They do what they do best- judge and create conflict that keeps everyone guessing who is their favorite.
Kara has an impressive resume and a very diverse list of performers that she has worked with, including Celine Dion with "Taking Chances." She also worked with the Pussycat Dolls with their hits "Beep" and "I Don't Need A Man." She has also worked with Ashlee Simpson and Hilary Duff. Kara has had songs recorded by Santana, Ricky Martin, Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias, Paula Abdul, Marc Anthony, and many more.
With Kara DioGuardi comes a lot of knowledge, not only of music writing but of performing and producing. In the past few years Kara has been awarded several Pop Awards for having created the most performed songs on radio.
Having Kara Dioguardi on the show brings new blood to the judges' table, and it adds some girl power to the show. Paula Abdul needed some company to fight off Randy Jackson and especially Simon Cowell. She should also provide a good counterbalance between Simon's blunt criticisms and Paula's more sensitive approach.
